Craftivism 101

Monday, September 21 at 7 p.m.

Get acquainted with craftivism , learn to embroider, stitch something brilliant, and make friends—all in just 2 hours! Craft-based activism has been used as a tool of resistance, coalition building, and even espionage. Learn from Shannon Downey—a leader in the modern craftivism movement. She introduces her global project and teaches you how to embroider in just minutes so you can join in the fun and the movement. Craftivism kits with the materials needed will be available for pickup at the Library beginning Sept. 16 – while supplies last! (Scissors not provided in the kits.)

If you’d like to get your own materials, here is what is needed:

  • Embroidery hoop
  • Embroidery floss
  • 24 gauge tapestry needle
  • Quilters cotton square
  • Scissors
  • Water soluble marking pen
